Immediately after giving two performances of De Falla's 'Nights in the gardens of Spain' with the San Antonio Symphony under the guidance of Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Martina continued her tour by giving recitals in Istanbul, Lodi, the NDR in Hannover and the Salle Gaveau in Paris.
The New Ross Piano Festival in Ireland
On September 28th, 29th and 30th, Martina Filjak gave 3 performances as 'artist in residence' at the New Ross Piano Festival in Ireland. During those concerts, she presented a wide range of repertoire, that encompassed pieces such as Beethoven's 'Hammerklavier' sonata and Balakiriew's Islamey as well as a performance of Schumann's Piano concerto in a-minor with the RTE Concert Orchestra. The Irish Independent's reviewer described her playing as 'flights of musical fancy' but also stated that she 'conveyed the essence of her profound musicianship'.
After substituting Maria Joao Pires on a less than 24 hours notice at the Piano Festival in St.Ursanne, Switzerland, on August 10th Martina appeared in front of the Geneva audience,performing the Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin and Piano with the young violinist Alexandra Conunova and Orchestre Internationale de Geneve. Several days later she was a soloist in Brahms' 1st Piano Concerto at the Palermo Classica festival in Palermo, Italy.
Performances in Liechtenstein and the US
In May, Martina Filjak succesfully closed the seasons of the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra in Vaduz, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra as well as The Florida Orchestra. On those occasional she gave performances of Brahms' 1st Piano Concerto, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and Ravel's Concerto in G-major.
